How Can I Keep My Pants Up?
Ever ask yourself “Why do my jeans fall down?” I discovered how to keep my pants up.
It drove me nuts to have to hike up my pants every time I walked a few feet or stood up out of a chair. I tried tightening my belt until I couldn't breathe. But then I couldn't breathe. And my pants still fell down. So I made up my mind I would come up with a solution. It couldn't be suspenders because they won't work on my job.
I spent months experimenting. Here's what I found.
Websites sponsored by men’s clothing retailers or fashion guides simply said that if my pants slid down I was buying the wrong size. I knew better, because the pants that stayed up kept me from breathing.
Other sites told me to start doing more squats to develop my glutes, so my pants would have something to hang on.
So maybe I had to BUY something to get help.
There were almost no products on the market to address this problem, and almost no information about how others were coping. I was basically on my own. I tried out a few of the solutions I did find. Here is a rundown.
One product is a belt that you wear under your pants. The idea is that the belt forms a lip on which the waistline of your pants can rest. I tried to duplicate this by wearing a thick belt under my pants. The drawback was that the hidden belt still had to be as tight on my stomach as possible to keep it from slipping down the same way the pants did. I was still very uncomfortable, to say the least.
When I tracked down other commercial products they turned out to be designed to keep my shirt tucked in, but that was the least of my worries. So then I was on to home advice.
One post on Reddit advised me to purchase some rope, make large knots in it that would catch my pants if they started to slide down, then wear it around my waist under my shirt. This was great while I was walking around, but just like the hidden belt trick the rope dug into my stomach while I was sitting. Not quite the way I want to feel while I am driving.
My pants slid down over my hips because any pants large enough for my waist were loose on my straight hips. But anything else I wrapped around my waist was just painful. I had to get away from the belt concept. I started by imagining something that could be suspended from my shoulders, but worn under my shirt, like a…That was my first idea – to adapt a tee shirt. Then I had to attach my pants somehow, but no hooks or pins. I didn’t want to struggle getting the pants off in a rest room, and I didn’t want to get poked by accident. Let alone the questions at the airport. So it had to be something that would support my pants without attaching to them. It just had to jut out from my hips. I experimented for months.
You can see from the pictures what I came up with.
I tested these for months, and wearing them every day, changing out materials until I came up with just the right combination. They worked well enough for me that I thought I would try my hand at selling them. But first I had to apply for a patent. I am happy to say that THAT process is pretty much behind me. That’s another story. Patent protection set up, I began selling them. Hundreds. With great results. So now I am presenting them to you: PantsUp, the men’s accessory that works like invisible suspenders.
How do they work?
Slip the cube inside the bottom of your tee shirt with the loop sticking out.
Pull the loop around the outside.
Push the cube, covered by the tee shirt, through the loop.
Attach the PantsUp cubes to each side of your tee shirt near your hip bone (so they can't sink in away from the belt).
When you put on your pants your belt will rest on the cubes rather than sliding down your hips.
I have tested these with some heavy pocket knives and flashlights ion my belt with good results.
How do I keep my pants up? This is the way.
Thanks for reading my story – this is the solution you've been waiting for.
